Barrett Corp &Harrington Ltd (BCH) is a RICS Regulated Company, providing professional and reliable building insurance rebuilding cost valuations across the UK.
Services include full RICS Compliant, Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCAs), desk-based Major Reviews following full RCAs and where appropriate, their market leading, e-Valuations requiring no site visit.
Since its founding, 15 years ago, BCH has strived to offer the most cost-effective solutions for building insurance valuations, in the flats market.
Its market leading service is accepted and respected by property owners, brokers, managing agents and insurers. From huge portfolios for freeholders, to the individual RTM and RMC, BCH aim to be the lowest cost provider for the same, high quality, independent and expert building insurance valuation.
Every assessment is as unique as the property assessed and services can be tailored to the requirements of specific insurance policies.
Customer service is at the heart of everything BCH does and its Investors in Customers Gold Award recently achieved, is testament to this.
BCH is an affiliate member of ARMA and the Directors contribute advice to the BCIS (Building Cost Information Service), the RICS Group for the Professional Guidance Note for RCAs (2011 and 2018) on reinstatement cost assessments, together with the BCIS Heritage Data Steering Committee.
BCH regularly contributes technical articles and lectures to IRPM, RICS, Chartered Insurance Institute and in-house to brokers, insurers and managing agents as part of mutual continuing professional development.
The team includes around 30 directly employed, experienced Buildings Insurance Surveyors, based across the UK – enabling BCH to provide a local service.
The privately-owned business was founded in 2006, bringing together the disciplines of insurance, loss adjusting and quantity surveying. This unique blend of expertise is considered essential for a practice offering a service into this very specialist and niche area of surveying.
With this experience, came the knowledge of the importance of an accurate appraisal to protect insured customers.
Many have commented about the ‘passion’ BCH shows for its subject, which is borne out of insight into the potential catastrophic effects of underinsurance – fueling a determination to help protect all parties at the time of major loss.
All stakeholders in the insurance purchase; property owner, agents, brokers and insurers want insurance to work, when it is needed most.
BCH’s rebuilding cost valuation services are a crucial part of the process. Excellent policies and correct insurance values will lead to a smooth claims process, if and when the unpredictable happens.
Over the last 15 years, BCH has carried out over 50,000 RCAs and has identified that 80% of properties were underinsured.
In 2020, BCH launched an online portal to enable insurers, brokers and managing agents to arrange, track and manage building insurance valuations quickly and easily.
