In 2002, News on the Block launched as a magazine for the property management industry. As we reach Issue 120, we wanted to celebrate this milestone and thank all those who’ve helped make it happen...
I t feels like only yesterday – but News on the Block this year celebrates its 20th year of publication! And since we launched in May 2002 we’ve gone from strength to strength. We thought we’d mark our milestone in our 120th issue of our bi-monthly magazine.
News on the Block became a digital magazine back in 2017 and is now shared by all the major industry associations with their members, which includes the IRPM, ARMA, UKAA, FPRA and ALEP.
While this is a momentous occasion in our history, we want to invite you to celebrate with us – because you’re an important part of News on the Block. The leaders of the associations we have mentioned have all helped and supported us over the years. As well as judging our now legendary awards ceremonies, they have supported our annual events and shared the magazine and content with their members.
Many of the business leaders from across the property management sector and the companies that supply services to them have also supported us through advertising. A lot of these businesses have also contributed through advertising. We thank you whether have written and advertised in this issue or in any issue over the past 20 years. Over the years, we’ve also built a strong following across our social media channels. We have almost 13,000 followers across all platforms.
We recently joined the world of TikTok and look forward to connecting to more followers there. Feel free to follow us: @newsontheblock.
But there’s more to News on the Block than our brilliant magazine. We have grown from a small publishing company to a publishing and events business and organise one of the largest events in the residential property industry calendar: ‘The Property Management Awards’. Last year, it was attended by more than 1,000 people!
We also host various conferences, online training and corporate networking events throughout the year. News on the Block’s Founder, Nic Shulman said: “I founded News on the Block just as the balance between the number of apartments and houses being built in the UK was beginning to shift.
“Although there was some scepticism at first, I could see there was a gap in the market for an independent trade publication to bring the industry together. Since then, News on the Block has continued to innovate and lead the industry in many areas and we have exciting plans to grow our product range still further.
“It has been a pleasure to meet and work with so many amazing people in the industry since our early beginnings. I would like to thank all of our readers, advertisers and property associations — and of course our wonderful staff — for their support over the past 20 years.”
