Retirement property management company and freeholder ELM Group announces the appointment of Stephen Darling as its new Director of Service Improvement.

Stephen, who joined ELM Group earlier this month, will step into the newly created role which will be pivotal in supporting the company’s significant growth plans, set to take effect towards the end of the year.

He will be working closely with the company’s Chief Executive Lorraine Collis and other members of the Executive Team, ensuring that team structures and individuals are organised to deliver ELM’s objectives in the most efficient way, along with developing and overseeing a policy framework for service improvement and supporting business development in line with the overall business strategy.

After an extensive career in retail and real estate, Stephen brings with him valuable experience working at a senior level for growing organisations and partnering with reputable brands, within large multi-billion-pound businesses across a number of territories including the UK, Middle East, Caucasus and the USA.

Stephen commented:

“I am delighted to be joining ELM Group as the company prepares to enter an exciting period of growth which we hope to announce shortly.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed an in-depth knowledge of aligning organisations to exceed customer expectations, and this will be a key focus at ELM Group where I’ll be supporting the organisation through period of transformation, with a key focus on ensuring excellent service delivery across all functions of the company.

What attracted me to ELM Group is its dedication as an ethical business to customers, doing things differently, and going above and beyond to deliver on its commitments. I look forward to achieving great things with the company.”

Lorraine Collis, Chief Executive at ELM Group, added:

We are delighted to have Stephen on-board after a recruitment drive to find the right person for this transformative role. He will play a huge part in helping us as we move into a new era as the Organisation enters our 53rd year of business.

As an ethical, not-for-profit business, our first priority when appointing any member of the team is their alignment with our ethical values which are strongly rooted in our Organisation.

Stephen is a dynamic leader with a proven track record of strategy creation, team development and results delivery. In addition to his knowledge and experience, Stephen impressed us with his enthusiasm for ELM Group, our values and support of local communities. We look forward to what’s to come for the rest of 2023 and beyond.”

ELM Group manages retirement communities across the South of England and has become one of the UK’s leading retirement leasehold management companies. The company originated in 1971 as Retirement Lease Housing Association (RLHA) a charitable organisation founded by a group of volunteers with a shared vision - to pioneer the development of sheltered housing for sale to people of retirement age. Sheltered housing for rent was already widely available, but the founders wanted to introduce the concept to those who valued owning their own property and saw the benefits of a purpose-built Estate, with onsite support from an Estate Manager.

Having built upon their enviable reputation in the independent retirement living sector, RLHA are proud to be one of the South of England’s leading leasehold property management companies.
