EX Quintain Ops Director Russell Markou joins Una Living at The Ringley Group

Russell Markou  joins The Ringley Group as Head of Living Strategy & Operations and specifically to lead and drive the sustainable growth of our BTR platform, Una Living and Una Consult.

Russell brings unique experience from multiple sectors; from his early career in construction site engineering and management,  hotel operations and for the past eight years as the Operations lead with Quintain Living in Wembley Park.  Russell  implemented his wide ranging skills to support the growth of the Quintain Living platform, from concept design stage through to over 3,500 operational BTR apartments within stabilised assets. Russell’s eight years of detailed operational experience in the BTR sector brings significant value to our clients operational needs throughout the entire life cycle, from design concept, contractor relations, mobilisation, staffing structures, training, procedures, lease up retention strategies and building experience. Russell  has a passion for people, leads by example and is a firm advocate of team retention and development and how this positively impacts the bottom line performance.

With over £12 billion of assets under management  comprising  over 16,000 homes , Ringley has grown from a small block management  company to employing over 200 people. Ringley undertake work for a wide variety of institutions, property companies, banks and private investors. The group falls into 4 divisions:  Living Sectors, Service Charge Management, PropTech and Professional Services; which encompasses VirginLand by Ringley, Ringley Valuation, Ringley Law, and Ringley Fire & FM.

Key focus for the group in 2024 is supporting new entrants into the living sectors pre-scale with their instantaneous vertically integrated platform, leasing, FM and site staff and growing assets under management across both residential and commercial sectors.  Uniquely the group offers a full lifecycle solution:  land, investment, asset management, facilities and leasing.

It takes time, commitment and dedication to build a complete end-to-end platform rather than being hindered by stitching together an array of tech whilst operating in the rapidly growing build-to-rent sector. Having completed this, the group is now recruiting senior experienced talent for the next chapter in our growth and to serve an increasing mixed-use/commercial Client base.

Mary-Anne Bowring commented:  We have a track record of fast lease up and improving margins, in addition we are not shy of taking on challenges such as turning around distressed assets and short term gigs to prepare assets for sale.   Russell adds bandwidth, vision and a wealth of experience and better still his mix of engineering, hospitality and operations means he already thinks as we do: people, risk, returns.  We will continue to innovate and Russell brings the knowledge for us to support those whose ambition is to ‘do it in-house’, we can deploy the tech, train the team and retain operational oversight and reporting and pre-scale operate.   We continue to support many blue-chip Clients across all real estate asset classes: students, co-living, multi-family, single family and later-living.

Russell added “Having run operations at Quintain Living and various hotel brands, I have to say I have been very impressed by the level of reporting, availability of data, automation and sophistication present at Ringley. It is my belief that we are the industry’s best kept secret and I am very excited to join at this pivotal time of company’s growth. The group is entrepreneurial and innovation is at the core, equally, the team are agile, hospitality driven and supported by great technology and people. When Mary-Anne invited me to spend a week or so discovering Ringley, I leapt at the opportunity to deep dive into the tech-stack as well as understanding the team,  I am excited to be welcomed as part of the leadership team and look forward to contributing to the development of the Ringley Group and its positive growth.

Richard Williams who joined the group in November as Group CEO, formerly a CBRE board member and MD of Avison & Young said Russell is a great hire who brings amazing experience to our business.  The Living sector is a strategic growth area for Ringley and Russell will undoubtedly help us in our quest to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
