FirstPort achieves five-star grading in British Safety Council audit for eighth year in a row

Property management company FirstPort has achieved a five-star grading in the British Safety Council’s Occupational Health and Safety Audit for the eighth consecutive year.

The five-star grading demonstrates FirstPort’s dedication towards the continual improvement of its occupational health and safety management systems, policies, and processes.

The latest best practice accreditation, carried out in November 2023, involved British Safety Council auditors visiting FirstPort developments and meeting with site staff, as well as documentation reviews and interviews with senior management.

The audit, which includes a detailed review of almost sixty component elements, highlighted FirstPort’s ability to take a systematic approach to assessing occupational health and safety risks, opportunities, and performance, whilst providing a framework to set objectives for continual improvement.

FirstPort’s commitment to Health and Safety is bolstered by an additional ISO 45001 certification, which was achieved alongside the five-star grading for the second consecutive year.

The ISO 45001 certification is a globally recognised standard for ensuring health and safety in the workplace.

Stephen Carbery, Head of Health and Safety at FirstPort, said: “We are delighted to have secured a five-star grading for the eighth consecutive year alongside the ISO 45001 accreditation. This achievement demonstrates our uncompromising commitment to the safety of our customers, colleagues, and contractors. We will continue to work hard to ensure we maintain these high standards across all the work we do.”

Mike Robinson, CEO of British Safety Council, said: “The award of a five-star grading following our occupational best practice Health and Safety Audit is an outstanding achievement and is reflective of a proactive organisation which is committed to continual improvement in its health and safety arrangements and managing risks to workers’ health, safety and wellbeing. FirstPort should be very proud of this achievement.”
