This past month has seen Rob Clarke, Director at motive8 and key team members attend several key industry events from Elevate at London’s ExCel Centre to Apartmentalize in San Diego, USA.
Elevate UK
Elevate is the UK’s largest exhibition dedicated to physical activity, fitness and sports therapy and attracts over 250 leading suppliers and key decision makers from the fitness and sports therapy industry.
Gym design consultants, Sally Ottewell and Kim Mead joined Rob for the day visiting and meeting with industry colleagues, suppliers and friends.
This was the first exhibition the team have been able to attend since Covid and it didn’t disappoint. Rob met with several key equipment suppliers including Wolverson Fitness, who design and produce functional fitness equipment to discuss their latest lifting equipment range and
Kim and Sally had the opportunity to try out lots of new state-of-art gym equipment including the new TANK™ M4 push sled, Torque’s Relentless Rope Trainer and the Matrix Performance Plus treadmill.
Balance
Back in June, Ashley Wright, Head of Gym and Spa Management spent the day at Balance Festival London, a dedicated health, fitness and wellness event to attend some of their popular seminars.
Of particular interest were the ‘Wellbeing in the workplace’ and ‘Diversity & Inclusion in Wellness’ talks especially as Ashley and her teams are placing more focus than ever on residential wellbeing events at motive8’s managed sites across the UK.
UKAA Study Tour, San Diego, USA
In June Rob travelled to San Diego to attend Apartmentalize but was also invited to attend a UKAA study tour in collaboration with CORT and Roomservice by CORT, which included visits to four multifamily developments and the opportunity to meet with industry executives and fellow UKAA members.
The study tour provided Rob with some interesting insights into how US companies manage their BTR leisure facilities and the different concierge services on offer. It appears that a lot of US developments outsource all their management services and only support with the leasing of new apartments and the day-to-day oversight of the development. The facilities and services on offer at many of the developments were extensive and go well beyond the gym offering we see in the UK. These vary from stunning outdoor pools to BBQ areas, valet waste disposal, dog exercise areas to communal lounges and work spaces.
The Concierge Service in many of the high-end developments offers a wide range of benefits includes dry-cleaning collection, dinner reservations, dog walking and a whole host of other services.
Resident engagement is very high and it’s clear that the regular resident and prospect catered events held in the stunning development outdoor spaces are key to keeping both new and existing residents invested in where they reside. Occupancy levels also remain high and many run a waitlist of potential tenants who have the opportunity to visit show apartments year-round.
Apartmentalize 2022, USALocated in San Diego, Apartmentalize is a conference and expo organised by the National Apartment Association and again was attended by Rob Clarke.
With an opening ceremony delivered by ‘Magic’ Johnston there was no doubt this event was going to deliver and be an experience like no other! Rob spent a valuable few days networking, listening to leading rental housing industry professionals and reviewing the latest products, solutions and services on offer for the rental housing industry.
