ROSSI HOUSE: NEW MILL HILL HOMES NAMED AFTER RENOWNED SCIENTIST

The newest and final phase of homes has launched at developer Barratt London’s Ridgeway Views site (formerly home to the National Institute of Medical Research) in Mill Hill. Rossi House, named after renowned scientist Rosemary de Rossi (pictured above), will bring a further 18 apartments to the development, 11 of which will be launched to the private sales market.     Ridgeway Views is set across 47 acres and located within the Mill Hill conservation area, with views across Totteridge Valley. Surrounded by greenery, the development is conveniently located in London’s Zone 4 with Mill Hill East Underground on the Northern Line, connecting residents to central London in just 30 minutes.   To honour the former scientists at the institute, each apartment block is named after a celebrated scientist who worked as an honoured member at NIMR. The blocks are a way of keeping the heritage of the land alive at the development today. Rossi House takes its name from Rosemary de Rossi, the Institute’s first female Head Technician in the NIMR’s new Division of Immunology in 1957. While a small number of units remain at Dodson House which took its name from Guy Dodson (1937-2012), a biochemist whose lifetime’s work in the field of insulin research contributed to the development of faster-acting drugs to help people with diabetes.     Homes in Rossi House have newly launched in Mill Hill, with 11 one and two-bedroom apartments available. With idyllic views that can be enjoyed from private terraces or balconies, the apartments offer the best of countryside living while also being able to easily access central London. For future residents, these new homes will be complete in Autumn/Winter 2024.   The redevelopment of the site will in total bring 460 new homes to Mill Hill and has opened up the impressive views of Totteridge Valley, which were previously blocked by the former nine-storey medical research building for 80 years. The homes at Ridgeway Views offer modern open plan living space, with kitchens which are equipped with high quality finishes. Each home will come with its own private outside space. Offering larger spaces than the previous phase, the apartments at Rossi House also have a new, premium specification with Silestone worktops and upgraded AEG appliances.     Barratt London recently marked the opening of new Woodland Gardens onsite which will provide the local community with access to free fitness equipment as well as a space for walks and runs, which connects directly to the countryside of Totteridge Valley. Other facilities onsite include dedicated concierge, residents’ gym and a restaurant.   Yolanda Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt East London, said: “Ridgeway Views is a great example of how sites with significant heritage should be honoured while creating new homes for London’s future generations. We have been waiting to launch Rossi House and it is an exciting moment for us to bring premium large apartments to Mill Hill.”  Yolanda continues, “So far, we’ve seen the development prove popular with downsizers, families and first-time buyers. Future residents can make use of our Deposit Unlock scheme, which enables first time buyers and current homeowners to purchase a Barratt London home with just a 5% deposit. While, for Key Workers we offer a Deposit Contribution Scheme, whereby we’ll offer £1,000 as a deposit contribution for every £20,000 of a home purchaser’s price.”
