The UK PropTech Association (“UKPA”), membership has approved its merger with The British Property Federation (“BPF”), following consultation with its members and the 75% approval threshold being reached.
The UKPA which represents all parts of the proptech ecosystem, announced in April this year that it had reached agreement to merge with the BPF, subject to membership ratification.
The merger brings together the BPF’s membership of close to 400 property owners, investors, developers and advisors with the UKPA’s community of over 1000 entrepreneurs, solution providers, venture capital investors and proptech innovators.
The partnership will help drive deeper collaboration between property and proptech businesses, with current UKPA Board members and executive team working with the BPF Board on an integrated strategy for driving innovation and tech adoption across the property sector.
The UKPA now becomes a legal subsidiary of the BPF and will continue to deliver its programme focused on thought leadership, events and digital content. There will be no change to the proptech membership and that UKPA will operate under its current name.
Sammy Pahal, Managing Director of the UKPA, says: “With the backing of the membership for the merger with the BPF we can push forward our common goal of supporting the property industry in finding innovative ways to tackle the critical challenges that they are facing with the use of digital technology. This will be achieved by providing greater opportunities for cross sector learning and engagement, with a joint BPF-UKPA programme of knowledge sharing, research, and events,” adds Pahal.
Melanie Leech, Chief Executive, British Property Federation, says: “The merger of the BPF and UKPA brings together two strong and successful brands to create a single united voice for property and proptech. I look forward to working with the UKPA members and team to deliver on our shared vision for a modern, innovative property sector harnessing the power of technology to tackle the challenges facing us including decarbonisation, and to deliver outstanding outcomes for local communities.”
The first major event of the merged organisations will be the UK PropTech Awards 2023 to be held at Amazing Grace London, 9a St Thomas St, London SE1 9RY, on 22nd November 2022 with 15 categories to be competed for and providing a great opportunity for both UKPA and BPF members to attend this great networking evening. The event sponsors are Coyote Software and Trustek
The award categories include:
- Innovation Catalyst: Fostering Business Evolution
- Net Zero Property Innovator
- Transformation Business
- Best use of Data
Sammy Pahal, says: “The awards recognise those property industry businesses that are leading the way, innovating, and embracing digital transformation, just as much as proptech companies that are providing the solutions to industry challenges by making improvements across the property lifecycle.
“Whilst we still have a long way to go, and some very critical challenges to solve as an industry, it is exciting to see how previous winners such as JLL, GPE, Grosvenor Industrials REIT, Legal & General, and Resolute Asset Management are working with proptech companies to make real progress and create a better industry for all.”
